I was born in Portland in 1961, and moved away as a young child. Still, Portland continued to be a special place for me. In the mid 1980’s I returned to attend Portland School of Art, now called Maine College of Art and Design. As a twenty year old moving to Maine from Connecticut I felt as though I was almost moving off the map, and loved it. I enjoyed the ocean next door and the pride that builders took in Portland over the past centuries.
